Smile Action Team provides an opportunity to offer dental care to communities, especially children, who may have little or no access to such services.
Smile Action Team embodies the values of volunteerism and community service. Since 2009, we have successfully executed numerous projects, serving schools, orphanages, and rural communities in Malaysia, Cambodia, and Laos. Our dedicated team of volunteer dentists, dental nurses, dental students, and community members worked tirelessly to achieve these endeavors.
Our main objective is to promote good oral hygiene within communities. Educating children from a young age on the proper way to brush their teeth is an effective means to achieve this goal.

A typical outreach day brings a team of volunteer dentists and nurses, portable dental units and supplies to a school, orphanage or community hall. Every child receives an oral examination and a record card for their parents. Simple treatment such as fluoride application, fissure sealants, fillings and extractions is carried out on the spot where consent has been given, and children who need further care are referred to the nearest clinic. Each visit ends with a brushing lesson and a toothbrush and toothpaste to take home.
Dentists, dental nurses, dental students and community volunteers are welcome to join upcoming outreach projects. Schools, orphanages and community organisations that would like a free screening day can also get in touch.
